Synthesis of coordination polymers based on a 2,2?-dimethoxy-1,1?-biphenyl scaffold and Hg(II), Co(II), or Zn(II)

In this study, 3,3?-di(pyridin-4-yl)-(2,2?-dimethoxy-[1,1?-biphenyl]) (L) was synthetized, structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography and combined with HgCl2, CoCl2, or ZnSiF6 for the formation of three coordination polymers ((HgCl2)2(L), (CoCl2)2(L)2.CHCl3, Zn(SiF6)(L)2). The crystal structures synthesis compound indicate different types modes, each adopts a mono (1D) tri-dimensional (3D) framework C–H···? interactions. (CoCl2)2(L)2, combination Co(II) L forms metallo-macrocycle, while in other compounds two helical infinite networks were characterized. Compounds (HgCl2)2(L) made chains opposite chirality (P M), Zn(SiF6)(L)2 exhibits tubular assemblies attached to Zn(SiF6)? pillars. This work may pave way further study chemical, structural physicochemical properties metal-organic polymers.
